Gartner has just released its 2017 Content Collaboration Platform Magic Quadrant series, mapping out leaders, challengers, and visionaries across the IT vendor space. In its most recent report regarding cloud-based content management systems, Gartner has ditched its previously coined term “Enterprise File Sync & Share” for a new market definition: Content Collaboration Platforms (CCP).
Gartner’s newest definition characterizes CCP as the evolution of EFSS services into content-centric platforms that enable secure file productivity and collaboration in addition to the sharing and synchronization of files across devices. On top of their fundamental sync and share capabilities, these platforms support content management, collaborative document creation, teamwork, and workflows; often with simple, usable interfaces, elevated administration and management capabilities, analytics, improved security and data governance.
Having experienced 40 percent year-over-year growth from between 2015-16, Gartner predicts that this market will continue to expand, reaching $9.2 billion by 2020 (a 32% compound annual growth rate) with 80 percent of enterprises deploying some form of CCP. Vendors including Box, Microsoft, Citrix, Google, Dropbox, Syncplicity, and Egnyte are leading the charge in the latest Magic Quadrant.
Content Collaboration Platform Leaders
SkySync is thrilled to partner with these content collaboration platform leaders, providing hybrid support as well as addressing many of the challenges that organizations are looking to migrate into a newer CCP may face.
Although many enterprises looking at digital transformation are adopting CCP, many of them are required to preserve their on-premises content repositories. Others may need a seamless transition from their legacy ECM system (one that includes the migration/synchronization of ALL file related artifacts, such as metadata and permissions) into their new content collaboration platform.
So they can focus on what they do best – developing enterprise-level content collaboration platforms – these leading vendors often require a third-party Enterprise Content Integration system, like SkySync, to address those challenges, speed up deployment and increase user adoption.
It is official: CCP is the future, and we are excited to be a part of a hyper-growth market.
